What's a Slow Burn?

A Slow burn is a gradual build up as opposed to a sudden outburst. Every show, each character, and every song is a slow burn.

Patrick Fitzwater (Artistic Director) is from St. Louis, Missouri where he started performing at a young age as a dancer in professional theatre and was a host on local television with the Disney afternoon. Patrick also served as Choreographer for Six Flags St. Louis and then became resident Choreographer and Assistant Director for Spirit Cruise Lines in Chicago. From water to touring across the land in Broadway touring companies, Patrick has worked in every aspect of the creative process. His Directorial debut was aboard the Historic Goldenrod Showboat in St. Charles, Mo., where he led several large cast musicals to critical acclaim.

Matthew Korinko (Artistic Director) grew up in Wisconsin and has been in the theatre since the second grade.  On a Technical Theatre Scholarship, he attended the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point and graduated with a BFA with a performance emphasis. While at Stevens Point he was nominated for an Irene Ryan Award for his potrayal of John Hancock in "1776". Before moving to Florida, Matthew spent 3 years as a member of New Line Theatre's repertory company in St. Louis, Mo. where he received a Kevin Kline Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor in a Musical in the world premiere of “Johnny Appleweed”. He has also spent time at sea as Production Manager for Cunard Cruise Lines.


Scott Miller (Artistic Advisor) SBTC is thrilled and honored to have Mr. Miller on our board.  Scott is a Harvard University graduate and the founder of New Line Theater in St. Louis, MO. His first book, "From Assasins to West Side Story" is in its eighth printing, and his second book, "Deconstructing Harold Hill", is its fifth printing. He has also written "Rebels with Applause" and "Let the Sun Shine In; The Genius of HAIR", all in bookstores now. Mr. Miller has contributed to five other books, including "Stephen Sondheim: A Casebook", a collection of essays by the leading experts in musical theatre. He has written the book, music, and lyrics for nine musicals, as well as two non-musical plays. His play "Head Games" has been produced in St. Louis, Los Angeles, London, and at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland. His 2006 musical Johnny Appleweed was nominated for four Kevin Kline Awards.
